Hey There!

Thanks so much for your interest in working with me for your wedding or event florals! I’m Jamie Taylor— or, as my mama calls me, J. Starr. I’m the owner, designer, and boss lady of J. Starr’s Flower Barn. We’re a custom, full-service wedding and event floral design business based on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, serving the Baltimore/Washington, D.C. area through the Maryland and Delaware beaches.

I officially started my business in 2017 after years of working in the floral industry. My love for flowers began at 12 when I became obsessed with sunflowers, everything from my clothes to my bedroom décor! I later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Plant Science and, while figuring out my path, continued working part-time and freelance for local florists, gaining invaluable experience. J. Starr’s Flower Barn is my faith-filled leap into turning that lifelong passion into a business. 

The name came to life when my husband, Matt, and I bought a farm with a big red barn and he was more than ready for me to stop designing wedding flowers in the house! Matt is my biggest supporter, and my daughters are the heart behind everything I do. I love having them in the shop, teaching them hard work, entrepreneurship, and patience (even if their favorite job is just playing in soapy water while “scrubbing” buckets).

I love incorporating locally grown flowers, either from nearby farms or our own, where we also run produce stands, chicken houses, and acres of crops. If I can use seasonal, local blooms in your designs, I will! I’m especially drawn to garden-style bouquets with lush greenery, layered textures, and a mix of blooms, bonus points for bright, bold colors. I also believe small, unexpected details make the biggest impact and help create designs that feel truly unique.

Your wedding is one of the most personal and important days of your life, and your florals should reflect you and your fiancé’s personalities, style, and story. I want guests to look at your wedding and say, “That is so YOU.” That’s why I work one-on-one with every bride to create a fully customized floral plan tailored to your vision. I also love offering creative ideas to elevate your décor and make your day even more memorable. My goal is not only to design beautiful, meaningful florals, but to make your entire planning experience enjoyable.
